Dear Reader,
Sometimes the Hollow shifts—and sometimes, we do.
Each of today’s chapters touches the liminal: a journey nearing home, a storm that leaves more than wreckage behind, a glitch with a pulse, and a forest that remembers its own name. Each protagonist steps into something that shouldn’t be—and finds, perhaps, that they were always meant to.
Let’s begin.
THE TRADE
Chapter Six – Heading Home
Bright Feather moves like silence through the trees, tracking both prey and past. She has killed. She has chosen. And as she heads toward the village, the weight of both actions is only just beginning to settle in her bones.
Her kill is not a symbol. It is sustenance. But it is also a statement.
And the trees watch.
“She laid the bird gently on the bough, sitting back on her haunches... paws to her heart, then over the bird, back to her chest, and up to the sky. She purred thanks—for its life, for the world’s gift.”
THE EXPEDITION
Chapter Six – Day 2: The Jungle’s Fury
The storm struck without mercy. It left behind cracked crates, damp uniforms, and a quieter boy.
Juanito didn’t complain. He didn’t cry. He scrubbed the pots after dinner and stared up at the clearing sky like it owed him no answers. And maybe it didn’t.
He was tired—but it wasn’t the kind of tired that comes from running.
“He didn’t feel like a stowaway anymore. He felt like part of the expedition.”
THE HOLOGRAPHIC GIRL
Chapter Six – Pressure Build
She didn’t override the lockout. She just sat by the door and waited—breathing slow, like she’d seen the adults do. Trying to find that space between thought and reaction. Trying to hold onto something the others didn’t understand.
They think she’s letting go.
She knows she’s still holding on.
“If they won’t let me go... I’ll find a way.”
THE FORGOTTEN TOWN
Chapter Six – The Hollow Beneath
The rook changed. The map redrew itself. And Nate followed.
What he found wasn’t a ruin—it was Killwarren, whole again. Familiar. Alive. A girl handed him a rook as if she’d always known him. And in a second-story window of the restored chapel, he saw himself—not aged. Not future.
Just… aware.
“The rook in his hand pulsed faintly... like it remembered him.”
STRATEGIC NOTE – A Hollow That Remembers
This is the halfway mark toward Chapter 13—and the Hollow is beginning to answer.
All four stories now ripple against something larger than their own arcs: belonging, danger, perception, and power. As The Resurgence Chronicles and Echoes of the Forgotten move forward, this is the moment to invite a friend in.
Leave a comment. Start a conversation. The Hollow is always listening.
Until next time,
—JD
